The Possession of Hannah Grace

The Possession of Hannah Grace had the potential of being a scary that had a good plot. The movie is set in a hospital morgue. The main character Megan, played by Shay Mitchell, who many may recognize as Emily from Pretty Little Liars, worked in the morgue after she had left working as a police officer because of a tragic event that she was involved in. During one of her night shifts, a body that had recently been found in an alley is brought into the morgue. The body is covered in gashes. The body belongs to Hannah Grace, a girl who had become possessed and was killed by her father. The movie starts off with the potential of developing a good plot, but as it progressed it became evident that there really wasn't one.

Image result for the possession of hannah graceMegan had little development over the course of the movie and the tragic event that pushed her to work in the morgue seemed to almost be completely forgotten throughout the movie. It is only brought up again at the end of the movie when she is able to shoot a gun which she was unable to do during the tragic event. Hannah Grace had no backstory besides a few clips of her during a failed exorcism. The other characters in the movie are left to the side and are just used as fillers to kill off throughout the movie. Because of the underdevelopment of characters, it became obvious who would be killed off and who would survive. Instead of feeling any emotion when certain characters were killed, it just seemed like filler in the movie. The movie would introduce characters that were important to Megan, such as her ex-boyfriend who she had pushed out after the tragic event and her friend who gets her the job in the morgue, but they weren't developed any further after that.

The movie left much to be desired. The movie was relatively scary with a few jump scares and plenty of suspense, however, the underdeveloped plot led it to become just another movie that anyone might forget in a few weeks.
